An Architect with big dreams

When we decided to start sharing our references I immediately thought of BIG, the architectural studio created by the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels.

Since 2006, BIG has offered architectural solutions that combine innovation, sustainability and a strong analysis of the project and its background. It has an optimistic vision of the future and believes that the architecture has the power to make people life better. Referring to what design is, Bjarke Ingels says: “The power to give form to the world as we would like it to be in our future”.

I think that their work inspires others to implement better solutions and go one step further.

The Plus, the new furniture factory of Vestre company has opened its doors recently. The Plus is well-placed to become the world’s first project of its type to achieve the highest BREEAM environmental classification: “Outstanding”. It was built in just 18 months and it combines energy-efficient strategies that reduce energy consumption significantly. The design contemplates the environment and incorporates it into the project.

In addition and related to sustainability, innovation has a very important role in their projects. Advanced technologies are used not only in the construction, but also in work processes and team organization. For this reason, they use BIM as a work methodology, and at BAM we are sure that this is the way to go.

“Due to the complex nature of many of our designs, I believe many projects would have never been realized without these technologies and workflows at hand.” Jens Majdal Kaarsholm, BIM Manager at BIG.

Below I share some projects and information about this studio.
